Tiebreakers are back!
As we’ve mentioned previously, nobody actually gets knocked out in this knockout stage, but we do need results from the next two games. That means all ties need to be broken!
Even if you already know how tiebreakers work, there’s a chance your reader might not, so it's best to read this now just as a refresher.
Tiebreaker Rules
Each player in the tie (even if it's a 4-way tie) will play the tiebreaker one person at a time. When one player is playing, the rest should be moved to the waiting room.
The reader will read out the 3 questions under Tie Breaker Set 1, and paste the questions into the zoom chat. Players will have 30 seconds to answer each. The reader will not reveal whether the answers are correct or not. Once the player is done, move that person to the waiting room and bring in another.
The reader will repeat the process for all tied players. In the end, bring all players back into the call and reveal the scores. The score in the tiebreaker will determine the positions at the end of the game.
If the tie is NOT broken after Tie Breaker Set 1, the reader will repeat the process for Tie Breaker Set 2 (3 questions).
If the tie STILL remains unbroken, the reader will run the Nearest To The Bull question. This question will require a numerical answer. The question will be pasted into the Zoom chat and all tied players will direct-message their answers to the Reader. The player who is closest to the correct answer wins the tiebreaker.
In the strange circumstance that this is also a tie, there is ONE MORE Nearest To The Bull question. Use it.
If the Tie is not broken at this point, we will conclude that the universe just wants a tie today. Inform the organizers.
Write down what happens in the Tie Breaker in the notes section of scoresheet submission form.
