Phew, that was a painful week 1. I don’t mean you, you were great. But there were so many no-shows, so many "sorry I didn't check my mail for 5 days", and so many non-payers (there are still a few of these. Please check this list and make the payment if you haven't already).
I received so many texts informing me about 'unforeseen circumstances’, I felt like a gym trainer.
But all that is over now, and we managed to have 51 solid games! We've also put up a recording of one of the early ones on our Youtube channel. Enjoy.
The Week 2 draws are up!
Draws for Game Week 2 have been updated, and as usual, you can find everything on the League Home Page.
Before you send out the first mail for scheduling your quiz, please please PLEASE remember to add b612quizleague@gmail.com to the mail thread. Mishaps happen, games need to be moved around, and readers drop out at the last second, but none of that stuff will affect you if you just remember to CC us. Our job is to make your quizzes smoother, and that can only happen if we know what's going on. So add us.
Game Week 2 will last from 5 pm IST Wednesday, 26th October to 6 pm IST Tuesday, 1st November. Note that end time please: 6 PM. We'd like the last quiz to happen early on Tuesday, so we can use the remainder of the day for other stuff like an early analysis post and possibly a nice Open House session where we go over the question set together.
The Week That Was
Here's what we covered in the quiz:
Led Zeppelin X JRR Tolkien
Pronoun Books
Battle Taunts
Kecak
Liverpool vs Besiktas
Prints & Places
Quirks of Braille
Ada Documentation
Omar Rodriguez's Minimalist Magazines
Birth of Impressionism
Military Tactics
Masala Lab Masala
Fake Athlete Viral Videos
TV series by Shonda Rhimes
Cameos in Feels Like Summer
There's a much more detailed rundown of these quads coming up later today (although you can check out the raw data now), so hold back your questions like "wtf was that Braille quad" and watch this space.
Here's a feedback form if you'd rather not wait: Feedback Form
We need Readers!
This league runs largely because of its volunteer readers. Please consider volunteering to read games for other groups after your own game is done. If you read enough games in the season (12), your registration fee will be reduced to 0!
There will likely be a large number of games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We will be prioritising games for those who have volunteered to read in the past and are likely to read again since this increases our capacity to run games on the following days.
