Last Week in Friendlies #2
A summary of quizzes published as friendlies in the last couple of days.
Last week saw six new question sets get published as friendlies. Six! I thought these posts would have to be padded up with older sets from our archives, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. 6 in one week!
Today’s menu:
Bollywood Half-Mimir by Sumukh Herlekar
Premier League Friendly by Shom Biswas
The Money Quiz by Zubaer
NBA Half-Mimir by Akshay Gurumoorthi
Pop Solos #1 by Vivek Tejuja
Lit Set #19 by Vivek Tejuja
You can find all these sets under “Public Question Sets” on our Linktree page. Please try them out, and tell us what you thought!
1. Bollywood Half-Mimir by Sumukh Herlekar
In his own words:
Heavily inspired (like many of our movies - one quad revealed!) by the enthu cutlets who have been setting wonderful friendlies across various themes as well as my my own love for the Hindi movie industry, comes this Half Mimir - a 32-question Bollywood Quiz.
The 8 quads are spread across Literature, Songs, Bollywood Gossip as well some Geography. Take a shot and be surprised that you do know Bollywood!
Slightly unusual format to start with. Sumukh’s Bollywood set is a ‘half-Mimir’, but it’s 8 rounds of 1 question each rather than the more common 2-questions-per-round arrangement. Use this scoresheet if you’re confused.
2. Premier League Friendly by Shom Biswas
In his own words:
This is my first MIMIR friendly, so please be gentle. It's on the (English) Premier League (yes, football was indeed invented in 1992) and I have been told it is not for the casual fan but for the regular PL watcher. And that is fair, I think. But what do I now? Go on, give it a shake.
I agree. In spite of our constant preaching about ‘accessible’ questions and quizzes designed to be played by everyone, irrespective of interests, occasionally it’s nice to play a specialist subject quiz that tests you hard on things you actually should know about. If you’re a football fan, this quiz will be fun.
This one is 5 rounds of 3 questions each, so use this scoresheet.
Shom made this set using the B612 Mimir Creator Template. We know you’ve been seeing all these Mimir quizzes fly around and have been wondering whether you should make one yourself, then deciding against it cos the format seems too tedious. You’re right, it is tedious, so we’ve done all the work for you and now you can just focus on writing the questions. Ping me when you’re ready to share your set!
3. The Money Quiz by Zubaer
In his own words:
For a topic that pervades nearly all aspects of life, Money seems to get somewhat short shrift in Quizworld. This is one econhead's attempt to redress the balance. Questions on money, finance and econ that run the gamut from fictional zillionaires and notorious scams to 19th century wars and 90s rap lyrics. Enjoy!
I thought this was a very creative choice of topic, reminiscent of Soumya’s Sustainability Set and Dhruv Mookerji’s Death Mimor.
4. NBA Half-Mimir by Akshay Gurumoorthi
In his own words:
This is a 32-question friendly on basketball, largely themed around the NBA. Basketball has a lot of online social media drama and some great youtube content, which is all a sport really needs to have. So, here goes a friendly based on all of that!
Yes, the reason I was so chill earlier in this post with someone making a whole Mimir question set on the English Premier League is that my own prayers have been answered and someone has finally made a quiz on the NBA!
Akshay’s had a productive 2 weeks. He made a Formula 1 friendly just a few days ago, and now this. If I had to guess, I’d say he’s working on a Winter Olympics Half-Mimir now and it should be released by Monday. You read it here first.
5. Pop Solos #1 by Vivek Tejuja
In his own words:
Indian Pop Solos came about because I wanted some Indian content out there on the lines of UK and US Pop Solos. I wanted a quiz that would evoke our nostalgia, at the same time with quads about current content, but everything Indian pop cultureish.
The granddaddy of all friendly quiz writers, Vivek Tejuja finally makes an appearance in this humble newsletter. The only person I know who could start a new series of friendlies, call it “#1”, and nobody would doubt that he means it.
If you haven’t heard of Vivek already, firstly, shame on you, and secondly, here’s what you’ve been missing:
The man has written a TV show quiz, a Music quiz, a Hollywood quiz, an LGBTQIA+ quiz, no less than EIGHTEEN LITERATURE FRIENDLIES, and a bunch of Lit Masterminds that I honestly haven’t kept track of. That is not a typo, it really is 18 distinct lit sets. He has produced so many Lit Sets that we had to create a lookup table of quads to help people figure out which sets they’ve already played and which are pending. The table was naturally out of date within a few minutes of being published, because who can really keep up with him? There’s probably going to be a new set out before you’ve finished reading this post.
6. Lit Set #19 by Vivek Tejuja
SEE I TOLD YOU
In his own words:
Lit Set 19 is all about adaptations. Books to movies. Books to series. Books to graphic novels. Books to musicals. Songs inspired by books. Books to operas. Books that inspired art. Short stories to movies. Everything and anything to do with adaptations.
Not satisfied with just one set this week, Vivek decided to supplement Pop Solos with the latest addition to the Lit Set collection, which now stands at 19 quizzes.
Phew.

You can still sign up for the B612 Quiz League. We’re a week into our 5th Season, but this is a non-competitive quiz league so it really doesn’t matter when you join. Signing up would also mean you can play these friendlies with us!
If you’ve written a quiz set that you’d like to share with the B612 community, get in touch.
